Frequently asked

How does blocking work?

When you start a session, LockIn uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to shield the apps, categories, and websites you chose. The shield stays active for the length of your session — even if you background or close LockIn — and is removed automatically when the session ends.

LockIn is a focus tool, not a tamper-proof lock. Because blocking is provided by iOS, it's possible to change Screen Time settings at the OS level, so we can't guarantee it's impossible to bypass. It's built to reinforce your own discipline.

Why does LockIn need Screen Time permission?

Screen Time (Family Controls) is the only way for an app to shield other apps and websites on iOS. Without it, LockIn can't block distractions. When you pick what to block, iOS gives LockIn only privacy-preserving opaque tokens — we never see which apps you have installed or which sites you selected.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select LockIn, and choose Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

How do I restore my purchases?

If you reinstall the App or switch devices, open LockIn and use Restore Purchases in the app's settings. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.

Does it work if I close the app?

Yes. Once a session starts, the shield is enforced by iOS itself, so blocking stays active even if LockIn is backgrounded or fully closed. It lifts automatically when your session ends. A Live Activity keeps your countdown visible on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your focus data — sessions, streaks, and selections — is stored on your device, and there's no account or sign-in. LockIn only receives Apple's opaque tokens and never resolves them to app identities. We use Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage analytics and RevenueCat for subscription management, and we never sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
